Dr. David Parrish is a consultant for all atmospheric chemistry issues related to air quality and climate change working under the company name David.D.Parrish, LLC. He has retired from his position as a Research Chemist with the Chemical Sciences Division of the Earth System Research Laboratory of NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration). He began there part-time in 1978, accepting a full-time position in 1987, and served as Program Leader of the Tropospheric Chemistry Group from 2009-2014. His research centered on understanding the atmospheric chemistry issues related to air quality and climate change. Notable projects included lead roles in the policy relevant syntheses of the findings from the CalNex 2010 and the TexAQS 2006 field studies. He coordinated seven of NOAA’s surface and aircraft based field studies. During his research career Dr. Parrish published more than 230 peer-reviewed papers, and his h-index is 75. Before joining NOAA, Dr. Parrish taught Chemistry at the University of Illinois at Chicago from 1973 to 1975 and at Metropolitan State College in Denver beginning in 1975, where he served as department Chair from 1986-1987. He received his B.S. (1966) in Chemistry from Colorado College, his Ph.D. (1970) in Physical Chemistry from University of California, Berkeley, and worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at Harvard University in Physical Chemistry from 1970 to 1973.
